Peggy Merry was a remarkable wife, mother, teacher, and friend. She was as graceful and she was beautiful; as fierce and she was gentle; she was unrelentingly optimistic in her outlook.
Peggy was born in Westport CT, graduated from Staples High School in 1969 and received her teaching certificate from the Ohio University, Athens and MA from Fairfield University. Peg was a master art teacher. She taught in the Fairfield Public School System for over 26 years. She had a special gift for fostering the talent of her students, many of whom won local and statewide awards.
Peg is survived by her loving husband Brian; her daughter Shannon Nowotny, her husband Frank; her sons John and Matthew. In addition Peg leaves behind two fantastic grandchildren Finn and Grey; her sister Sally Phillips, her husband Mark; her brothers John, his wife Lisa, and Ed, his wife Marla, as well as many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
Peg always described herself as a lucky person. She was indeed well loved by her family, friends and colleagues. She was exceedingly proud of the accomplishments of her children. She had a circle of cherished life-long friends who enjoyed getaways in New Hampshire, travel and regular dinners.
A memorial service will be held at Eagan Chapel at Fairfield University 11 am on Saturday, August 13. Burial will be private. Reception for family and friends will follow the service. To leave online condolences please visit www.spadaccinofuneralhome.com.
