

Margaret M. (Cullagh) Silk, age 68 of Monroe, CT. passed away on June 7, 2013 after 7 months of a courageous and hard fought battle of Melanoma Cancer. “Peggy” (as she was known by all) was born in Tipperary, Ireland on October 31, 1944 to a large and loving family. Peggy has incredible life long friends and family members that will cherish her always. She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Her smile, wit and charm would light up a room and warm your heart. She worked many years in the Monroe school system and twenty years as a mail carrier for the Monroe Post Office where she retired in 2008. Everyone who knew and loved Peggy shared her fondess for vacations, shopping, margaritas and spending time with her family and friends. She will be extremely missed by all those who loved her and all the lives she touched. She leaves behind her son, John Hughes, daughter Dawn Sears and her husband Howie, daughter Leigh-Ann Jacob and her husband Chris, and daughter Jamie Fiddler and her husband Wayne, and her step-son Robert Silk and his wife, Angie. She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Kyle, Tyler, Molly, Aby, Natasha, Jonathan, Laurann and Sara.
She is predeceased by her son, Dennis Hughes and husband Robert Silk and step-daughter, Robin Silk.
Calling hours are Monday, June 10, 2013 from 3:30-7:30 at Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher & Son Community Funeral Home. 315 Monroe Tpke. Monroe, CT. with a Catholic Mass on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at 10:00am at St. Stephens Church 6948 Main Street, Trumbull, CT. and burial to follow at the Resurrection Cemetary, Main Street, Newtown, CT.
