Maria Dolores Soto

Maria was born on 9-13-1923 in Bogota, Colombia. She married Jaime Soto, in February 1941. She arrived in the USA in 1963 and later became an American Citizen. She worked for Pitney Bowes Co. as a bench inspector until she retired in 1988. Maria was a young window, who, along with her family, raised three children and encouraged them to pursue their goals. She was a loving and devoted mother, Nana and Great Nana.

Maria was accomplished cook and avid reader. She spoke three languages. She loved to travel and visited many countries over her lifetime. She was a generous individual who loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an active and dedicated member of St. Theresa Church. She loved to dance and she was always dressed to perfection. She had extremely strong faith which guided her through life. She was also active in two senior citizen’s clubs and lived independently for most of her life.

Mrs. Soto is survived by her son, Camilo Soto and his wife, Solveig Irene, of Monroe, CT. Granddaughters’, Nicole Boisvert Porter & husband, William of LaGrange, NY, Yvonne Soto Benjamin of Shelton, CT, Cristina Boisvert-MacGillis & husband, Gene of Ellington, CT. Grandsons’, Matthew Soto & husband, Michael Kalmick of Middletown, CT, Erik Soto & wife Jaimee, and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jaime E. Soto, of Bogota, Colombia, her daughter, Marina Soto Boisvert, of Somers, CT, her son, H. Guillermo Soto of West Palm Beach, FL. and twelve brothers and sisters of Bogota, Colombia.

A funeral mass is scheduled for March 19th at 9am at Saint Theresa’s Catholic Church in Trumbull, CT. Burial immediately following Mass at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 1056 Daniels Farm Rd, Trumbull. Reception to follow at Stone Barn, 175 Shelton Rd, Monroe. Rev. Brian P. Gannon will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Maria’s life.
