Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, she was the daughter of Assunta (Riso) and Samuel Fusco. Mattie was a member of St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Monroe. A woman of great faith, she was thoughtful, kind, and generous. Family was her first priority, but she had many friends and she will greatly be missed by all. She loved nature and enjoyed watching birds. She found joy in music and loved to kick up her heels and dance. Reading was another passion and she enjoyed cooking Italian dishes for her family.
Survivors include her five children: Jane Russo, Susan Tarasuk (Robert), Marie Mastroni, George Mastroni, and Michael Mastroni (Laura). She had 10 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, George; her son Thomas; and her grandson, Joshua.
Family and friends can meet on Friday, February 5, 2021, at 11 a.m. at St. Jude’s Church, 707 Monroe Tpke, Monroe, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Stratford. A celebration of life will be planned for later this year.
