On Thursday January 3, 2019, loving wife, mother of three children and grandmother to nine grandchildren, passed away peacefully at the age of 75.
Maureen was born on February 14, 1943 in Bridgeport, CT to Vincent and Dorothy (Schulz) Buza. She worked in retail and as a bank teller for 20+ years. On September 5, 1964, she married John A. Zahor at St. Catherine Siena in Trumbull, CT. They owned a home in Monroe, CT for 35 years where they raised three sons, John, Chris and Jason. They relocated to Mercersburg, PA where they have lived the last 15 years.
Maureen enjoyed her family and close friends that became like family. She liked to bake and shop for personal gifts that she knew would be meaningful to others. Often, she would create scrapbooks for her loved ones to present to them at meaningful moments of their lives. Making and keeping enjoyable memories was her gift to others. Her eyes would light up at the site of a good bakery or old-fashioned candy shop. The mother of three boys, she started following football and became an avid Steelers fan. Maureen and John also loved to travel by car to see historic sites, which lead them to their second home close to Civil War sites in south central PA, Maryland and Virginia. She loved to play board games with her grandchildren. Maureen achieved many titles in life but becoming “Nana” and “Nanny” to her nine grandchildren was her most cherished role in life.
Maureen was preceded by her parents Vince and Dorothy and daughter-in-law Kim. She is survived by her husband John, son John and his wife Robin, son Chris Zahor and son Jason and his wife Jennifer, grandchildren Nicholas, Devin, Christopher, Alexis, Joseph, Elizabeth, Grace, Jackson and Jared, sister Carole Molowski (Buza) and numerous family and friends.
