Raffaela Conte Aversa, longtime resident of Monroe, CT, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2021 with her loving family by her side.
Raffaela was born in Minturno, Latina, Italy to Teresa Orgera and Antonio Conte. While Raffaela was her given name, she was Lina to everyone who knew her, Lili to her family and Bella to many friends. She was a former Banquet Manager at Oronoque Country Club in Stratford, CT. For many years she was a Spiritual Healer at The Angel Store in Monroe, CT. Her passion was helping people through encouragement and care. Her prescription was laughter, love and confidence. She uncovered your strength so you could be your best person living life to the fullest. Lina loved to garden and tend to her flowers. She loved to cook. She fed the body and soul of her family and friends. Lina volunteered at soup kitchens and brought food and clothing directly to the hungry and homeless on the streets. She helped many secure employment through her many connections.
Lina's red lipstick smile lit up the room. Once you met Lina, you could never forget her. Lina's motto was 'Life is Good'. She believed this with all of her heart. Nothing got her down. She will be remembered for lifting people up. Touching each and every person she encountered.
Lina shared her life experience in her book Through My Eyes She Saw. Her true life story of growing up in Italy caring for her blind grandmother calls on each of us to embrace our individual special gifts and utilize them to succeed in life. Lina taught people to see happiness and be happy in every circumstance. Lina would say, "Do you want to be happy or do you want to be right? Be Happy!"
She stayed close to her roots by being a member of the Women's Auxiliary Minturnese Club in Stamford, CT. She could be found every year stomping grapes at the annual Wine Tasting event held at the Italian Center of Stamford.
While Raffaela loved everyone, her life revolved around her beautiful children and only grandson, Michael. Raffaela enjoyed meeting him at the school bus stop and feeding him like only an Italian grandma can do! Lina had a huge impact on the lives of the people she coached. Lina will be missed and celebrated by the many she touched. She will eternally watch out for us all from above being a faithful servant of the Lord. Her wings are lined with gold and she is sparkling among the angels. Life is good. Eternal life is good.
Lina is survived by her husband, Armando Aversa, Sr., her three children, Joseph Aversa and his wife Kelly O'Krepkie-Aversa, Patricia Aversa and Armando Aversa, Jr., her grandson, Michael Aversa. Lina is also survived by her siblings, Maria Conte of Minturno, Italy, Salvatore Conte and Silvana Orsaia both of Stamford, CT, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Lina is predeceased by her parents, Antonio and Teresa Conte and her sister, Filomena Romano.
Funeral Services will be privately held. Memorial gathering to be celebrated at a later date.
