

Robert J. Silk, age 70, of Monroe passed away on Sunday, March 28, 2010. Bob was born in Bridgeport, Ct. on March 6, 1940, the son of the late James Silk, Sally Surell Short, and Stepfather, Felix Short. He was predeceased by his brother, Richard Short, daughter, Robin Silk and stepson, Dennis Hughes. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Margaret Cullagh Silk, and children, Robert Silk and his wife Angie of Texas, Leigh-Ann Silk Jacob and her husband Christopher of Oxford, Jamie Silk Fiddler and her husband Wayne of Monroe, stepchildren John Hughes of Monroe and Dawn Hughes Sears and her husband Howie of Southbury. Six grandchildren, Kyle Silk and Abygail Fiddler of Monroe, Tyler and Molly Jacob of Oxford, Natasha and Sarah Silk, Johnathan and Lara Ann Johnson of Texas and 3 great-grandchildren. Bob served twenty years in the US Navy/Submarine Division as a Chief Petty Officer and was later employed by United Technologies as an electrical engineer. A memorial gathering will take place on Thursday, April 1, 2010 from 2pm to 6pm at Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher & Son Community Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Turnpike Monroe. Father Stephen Gleason will perform a prayer service @ 4pm followed by Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Roberts name to The American Diabetes Association @ www.diabetes.org or to the American Heart Association @ www.americanheart.org
