Rose (Bergeron) Mathews, 89, of Shelton, previously of Eustis, Florida passed away on Friday, June 15, 2012 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center. She was wife to Ernest D. Mathews, the love of her life, whom she was reunited with on that day. Knowing they are together helps to make her loss less painful. She was a great mother, grandmother and great grandmother and we will always miss her. She was an excellent friend and gave freely of her time to others and especially to Hospice in Lake County, Florida, where she served as a volunteer for over 20 years. Her wit was a delight and she could shop anyone under the table until she was in her 80's. Her talent for making a home was admirable and her apple pie remarkable. She could make cradles, paint houses, and when we weren't looking, probably leap tall buildings in a single bound. She was our Mom, and we were blessed in having her in our lives. Rest in peace, Rose Alma.
She is survived by daughters, Susan (Wayne) Hanson with whom she lived in Shelton and Sandra Cherepow of Winter Park, Florida; grandchildren Lindsey (John) Hertzog of Southbury, Eric Hanson of Middletown, Christopher Cherepow and Jennifer Cherepow of Winter Park, Florida and great grandchildren Jake Hertzog, Benjamin & Dexter Fagan.
Memorial services are at the family’s convenience.
