
Sheila Ellen (Mackro) Kolesar, age 65, of Monroe, wife of James S. Kolesar, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2011 at Saint Vincents Medical Center surrounded by her loved ones. A lifelong resident of Monroe, she was born February 21, 1946 to the late August and Virginia Mackro. Sheila graduated from Cardinal Cushing College in Boston, MA with a degree in American Literature, and received a Masters in Teaching from the University of Bridgeport. She was employed with the Newtown Board of Education for 35 years and was an extraordinary educator within the Newtown school system. During her retirement, Sheila spent time traveling with her husband, practicing yoga, and shopping with friends and daughters. Sheila was active in many organizations, including: the Monroe Historical Society, AAUW, garden club, and various book clubs. Ever devoted to her family, friends, and students, Sheila illuminated every situation with her quick wit, fashion flair, and generous heart. She was greeted by appreciative former students wherever she went. In addition to her husband of 41 years, she is also survived by her daughter Emily Kolesar Fowkes and Brian Fowkes of Manhattan, KS., daughter, Sarah Kolesar and George Waldbusser of Corvallis, OR., brother Jay Mackro and Catherine Kusnick of San Juan Capistrano, CA, and sister-in-law Jean Hinders of Colorado Springs, CO. , cousins Joan Marr (sisters-at-heart) of Monroe, CT, Philip Corning of Monroe, CT., Sherman Corning of Palm Beach Gardens, FL. Nancy Lizak of Monroe, CT, and Matthew Winspur of Deland, FL. and Grandcats Mr. Banks and Aggie, Granddog Piper, and Grandchickens. . Her family will receive friends TODAY, Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at the Spadaccino and Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home from 5pm -8pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, September 29, 2011 at 10:00 AM.Burial to follow at the Stepney Cemetery.
