Sophie was born in Stamford to Stephen Kulis and Blanche Piorkowski Kulis Gaspar on September 5th, 1947.
She attended school at Holy Name of Jesus and Rippowam High School. She married Pat Buzzeo on May 10th, 1969 in Stamford, CT. Her last place of employment was as an administrator for Electrical Wholesalers in Stamford, CT.
For many years she served on the board for Stamford Pop Warner Football League, member of the Halloween Yacht Club and assisted with club events, and worked alongside her husband supporting the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Chapter 13 of Stamford.
Sophie is preceded in death by her beloved in-laws Anthony and Doris Buzzeo, father Stephen Kulis, mother Blanche Piorkowski Kulis Gaspar, cioci Tesse Alberts, siblings Stephen Kulis II, Stephen Kulis III (Stevie), Nancy Kulis Morrell, Joann Kulis Santesiero, and Blanche Kulis Agostino.
Sophie is survived by her husband Pat Buzzeo, her brothers and sisters, cousins, nieces and nephews, children Tony Buzzeo and his wife Donna diSpagna Buzzeo, Lisa Buzzeo Lobuono and her husband Joe Lobuono, and grandchildren Alysse Buzzeo, Brooke Buzzeo, Nick Lobuono, and JP Lobuono.
Sophie will be most remembered for the love and dedication she had for her family as they were everything to her. Her unforgettable bright blue eyes and infectious smile touched everyone she met. Her favorite place to be was on the boat surrounded by family on Long Island Sound. Sophie and her husband Pat were together for 57 years. She stood by him as he served in Vietnam, and they married upon his return, remaining married for the past 53 years. Sophie and Pat were inseparable, and a beautiful testament of true love. She enjoyed listening to Kenny Rogers, the 3 Tenors, watching Hallmark movies, looking out the window at her garden, as well as eating a good chili dog with fries, and pizza with a cold Heineken on the boat.
Her family will receive friends on Friday, June 24, 2022 from 4 p.m.-8 p.m. at the Spadaccino and Leo P Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 315 Monroe Tpke., Monroe, CT.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at St. Stephens Church in Trumbull, with Msgr. Surwilo officiating. Burial will follow at St. John's Cemetery in Monroe.
