Betty Jane Gilbert

Snohomish County native, Betty Jane Gilbert dies at age 78. Betty Jane Gilbert, born to Ruth and Truman Goldsbary on July 6, 1936 passed away at Harborview Medical Center after an acute brain injury suffered during a fall on Sept. 12, 2014. At the time of death, she was living with her husband, Ray Gilbert in Gold Bar, WA. Born in Everett, WA, Betty graduated from Snohomish High School in 1956 and worked outside the home as a nurse’s aide while married tio Leonard Helm, while raising 9 children (2 girls and 7 boys). She married Ray Gilbert in Feb. 1996 in Arlington, WA. Betty is survived by her husband Ray Gilbert, sister Margaret Bevins, 6 sons and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughters Lilly May Helm and Delores Norgan, son Glen Helm, ex-husband and father of her children: Leonard L. Helm, sister Lavina McDonald, and brother Jack Goldsbary. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2014 at 12:30pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 14415 – 369th Ave. SE, Startup, WA 98293. Viewing for family and friends will be held from 10:30am to 12:00pm at the church. Betty will be laid to rest at Cypress Lawn Memorial Park in Everett at 3:00pm.
