Hey Carson,
I've been thinking of you lots. You are so missed by so many. Your smile was one I will never forget.

It is with great sadness that I learned of Carson's untimely death.  I didn't know him well, but he & his family have always held a special place in my heart as brothers & a sister in Christ.  Heaven is surely this fine young man's home now.  May the Lord comfort his family & friends, who will miss him for a long time to come.  My heart-felt condolences to Olivier, Nancy, & Riley!

Carson was one of my only true friends at Sky Valley... He always put a smile on my face and brought me out of my shell. I miss him so much... He was loved by many and he loved them all back. He was funny, sweet and oh so talented... I know he is missed and will never be forgotten...

Carson I have so many wonderful memories of you. Looking back over the years I can still visualize you Tristan and Riley playing together as young kids on so many Saturdays during the summer with that old trampoline that you used to have, bouncing and screaming your heads off with laughter and imagined adventures. I am also reminded of you all running through the woods by the barn emerging from the trees like and band of warriors or soldiers , playing war and doing the things the boys love to do, living in the moment just being boys. Then there is that go cart that you used to drive Tristan around in and the infamous story of the "newly cut special path through the track" that the Land Rover got to go on  once (and the rest of us as well). I can't tell you how many people  that I bragged too over the years about how tough that vehicle was as a result of that and how it brings a smile to my face every time I think of it. Looking back through all the photos we have of you I am reminded of so many things that we did together, and how many places that we went together and good times that our families had. I am glad that we got to share things like picnics,  trick or treating on campus, sledding in Leavenworth or hanging out at the river. It was great fun going prospecting together while you forged paths through the woods like an explorer traipsing through a wild jungle as they explored an undiscovered land. 
Of course it is not possible to leave out the many trips to Boom city and our shared love of things which make the most noise. 
Your excitement was contagious and it was always great to be around you, even when you and Tristan would sometimes get into trouble or some degree of being mischievous. It was always great to have you around. 

It was wonderful watching you grow up into a great young man. I love how you blossomed at camp and seeing the pictures of you giving lessons and leading singing. I love how encouraging you were with people including me. It meant so much to me when you recently came up to me after a singing telling me that "I loved hearing your tenor tonight". You had no idea how much that meant to me and how seeing your example and your zeal for leading singing.

I am proud to have known you. I know this is not good bye, till we meet again brother I miss you.

My memories of Carson were mostly made during my Culminating Challenge class. I had to tell Carson that he couldn't use the tables as a Parkour course, explaining that if he got hurt I'd have to fill out a lot of paperwork. He saw the wisdom of my reason and desisted. But my favorite memory was later in the semester. Another student had done her challenge on her poetry and had made a tri-board all about how she went about getting ideas, the creative process and the finished product. In earlier weeks these two had had no interaction and I didn't even know if they knew each other. The girl was quiet and shy. When she came to show me her board, before going in to do her presentation to the counselor, I had her walk me through her talk. Carson was there and started asking her such great questions that it became, for me, a moment of teaching bliss. I just sat there in awe as he drew her out and I listened for some 15 minutes or more as the two of them had the most wonderful deep discussion about the creative process. They compared Carson's writing of music and her writing of poetry and found they had a lot in common. It was such a great session, I even shared it with my teacher husband when I got home. Carson had shown such respect, understanding and interest that I'm sure the girl will also remember this moment in time forever.

I will miss his smile..I will miss his wit..I will miss his STYLE...I will miss his swagger..I will miss his presence..I will miss Carson. I was honored to be one of his first teachers at Sky Valley. I am honored to know his family...I am honored to work with his dad...I am honored to have known this amazing young man. May you all feel the strength and love of a myriad of friends who love and adore you. And may you know the peace that passes ALL understanding from the One who is always for you..always loving you...always crying with you..always holding you and always going to the Father on your behalf. May you be filled with comfort and amazing memories of such a life so well lived. You are deeply loved. Joylyn

I have so many memories of Carson throughout many years of camp, potlucks, Sunday assemblies, late night movie showings, and many things in between.  Many times the interactions we had never lasted longer than 2 or 3 minutes after church services, but I will always miss those post-church checkups.  I will miss them because Carson genuinely cared about people, making it a constant encouragement to share an interaction with him.

Carson was zany.  We would often get into tussles only ending when one of us was injured or unable to carry on for some other reason.  Carson possessed an intensity that was impressive, and paired with his gentle heart made him a truly unique individual.  There were many occasions when Carson had just the right words to say, and he was always aware of the right times to say them.  Sentences as simple as “Hey, man, I love you,” or “I believe in you.”  He was never afraid to do and say things that could be perceived as being weak, and in that laid one of his greatest strengths.

Carson was always full of surprises, every class I looked forward to his original take on ideas and his hilarious commentary. I will always miss him and will never forget his biology rap.

Carson and I used to do a lot of things when we were little, we would drive a go cart through a maze of tall grass, that Oliver would make with the tractor, and we would build cities on a sand hill while our parents worked in the garden, then flood the cities with a garden hose. But my favorite memory that I have of Carson is the time I chipped my tooth. We had this marble maze contraption set up on the balcony hanging over the hallway when we decided to rain marbles onto each other. Carson went first, then it was my turn. The first marble fell and hit my tooth, chipping it. We tried to hide it from Nancy but failed. Now I will always have something to remind me of you, wherever I go. You were a great friend and I wish we could have spent more time together. Miss you and all the stupid things we did together. Your good friend and brother in Christ, Tristan

Such a bitter-sweet time as we mourn your loss but rejoice that Carson is with our Heavenly Father. What a life he lived and all because you gave him such love, support and encouragement!

We will miss him but look forward to seeing him again.

It was a blessing to know and spend time with Carson.  He was a loving, compassionate young man, and showed thoughtfulness to care for others when they were hurting.  Often I would see him off talking to another young person who was going through some struggle; giving them encouragement by lending an attentive hear.  It was easy to see his joyful and enthusiastic nature when doing the things he loved; he was full of energy and had a contagious laugh.  He was willing to put himself out there to try new things, to lead songs and give devotionals.  I will miss his handshakes and his friendly greetings.  He was special and I will miss him. I'm so sorry for your loss.  Psalm 73:26 “My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”

Olivier and Nancy, you are kind people; having attended me at home in my illness with prayer and scripture. 

Your loss is unfathomable, I am so sorry your Carson is not with you now. I extend this condolence to your other son and extended family, I am sure this great loss is felt acutely by them.
 
Carson touched this earth and its people briefly as an angel, sprinkling his joy among you. I am grateful to have heard his magical piano impromptu composition just once. His talent was a blessing to those who heard it.

I think I will remember Carson for his ability to surprise me. His drive, passion and creativity was almost full throttle at all times. He left me with cramps and tears in my eyes many times with some kind of antic. He would be excited to show me music he wrote that would often be a delicate melody of the heart rather than some random notes without purpose. Sometimes he wanted show me jewelry he and Oliver had been working on. We would talk about God and relationships often. He always wanted a hug rather than a handshake. He was as unique as anyone I have ever met. I am blessed to have known Carson. Oliver, Nancy and Riley, you are always in my prayers, especially during these trying times of loss and grief.

Carson was a big part of our family.  He was with us for so many weekends and many times in between. In that time we became close.  As part of our family he laughed with us and cried with us.  He talked of his dreams and shared his talents.  We watched him grow and saw his passion for people and music and for The Lord.  We have many memories but there is one cute moment that sticks out for us.  One night we came down Carson's long driveway to the house and the grass along the driveway was long.  It was dark and when our headlights hit the grass we saw a flash of what seriously looked like a lion in the African Savannah, running on all fours.  We weren't sure what it was and then we got another flash of something run by again.  Obviously it wasn't a lion.  It was Carson Peter-Contesse running like some wild animal. We found it so funny that we had to stop the car and laugh.  He was always doing some silly stunt.  Always.   Oh, we worried he would get hurt all the time but Carson seemed fearless and out for adventure.  What a character.    Carson was only 18 but lived a life!

During to a visit to O&N&R&C's home about five years ago I was hanging outside with Carson, talking about the cool maple tree out front.  He pointed out how he it gave him access to sneak out from his bedroom window.  I said something about how I didn't think the branch would hold me, and he said, while looking me straight in the eyes, "You shouldn't be so hard on yourself."  The sincerity of his words has stuck with me all these years, and as I read all the comments from those he touched, I realize it was not unusual for him to build people up in so many different ways.  He's left a positive legacy in so many ways.

In times to come, we will think of Carson and remember his joyful exuberance, his all-embracing love of life.  We will remember, with admiration, his courage in the face of challenge whether he was jumping off rocks on his snowboard or scaring the daylights out of us on the trampoline.  And we will never forget his unabashed sense of humor and a wit capable of producing fits of laughter for us all.  Carson was youth personified.  We were lucky to know him.  We will always love him.  We will never forget him.

Carson was my best friend for 4 years, and i have never known such an amazing human being. He was the kind of person that would answer the phone at 3 in the morning to help you through a problem, no matter how hard it was. And he always knew how to put a smile on my face. Knowing him has made my life so much better.He was selfless, kind, loving, talented, and all together unforgettable, and he will always have a special place in my heart. I love that crazy kid.

I will best remember Carson for his passion.   He had passion for life, friendships, music, snowboarding, and many other things.  He had a very tender side to him and could be very protective and compassionate with others.  He was a friend regardless of appearance or what others thought of you.   I am lucky to have so many memories of him.   His time here was short but God placed him in the most loving and capable family who gave him such a good foundation.  He was a very lucky young man, and I will miss him.

Carson was a friend to man and a friend to God.
In his full-color, full-volume life, he intuitively sought out those who craved acceptance and kindness and openly offered both.
He laughed at every one of our kids' jokes, gave them epic piggy back rides, made music pour out of our piano as they watched in awe, made them feel like heroes in the camp games, and listened seriously as they talked about adoption.  He was never too cool to say 'hi' to them at school (even when hanging out with his teen friends).  Carson was humble and honest and a loyal friend.  Thank you for sharing him with us all!

When I think of Carson I think "Big Heart, Big Personality". God's hand was surely with  the PC's family by placing Carson with them.  He was blessed with a family that gave him much love with many friends that felt the same way. Our hearts are with you Oliver, Nancy and Riley.

Carson was like a brother to me.

When I first met him, I was shy and never talked to anyone, let alone be outgoing. After the first day I spent with him snowboarding through the class at SVEC, my mom was wondering what happened to me, I came home a completely different person. Because of his influence on me, even though he was two years younger than me, I live a fulfilled and happy life. He saved my life literally as well, more than once. I owe him a lot.

Which means, in turn, I owe you, Mr. and Mrs. Peter-Contesse, and Riley just as much. Thank you for being a part in molding Carson into who he was, so that he could mold me into who I am today.

I'll always remember last summer when Carson came to work for us with his homemade machete that he was so proud of, and overdid it hacking through the jungle of the neighbors yard that traversed into ours. He was such a hard worker and we had the best talks sitting around at break times. That's when I got to know Carson really well and I will always miss him. Can't wait to see what he'll be wearing when I see him again. Rest-in-peace Carson, you were one-of-a-kind. And my sincerest heart-felt condolences to you, Olivier, Nancy and Riley.

My first memory of Carson is running into Nancy at Red Apple grocery store. He was such a cute little baby boy in jean overalls sitting in the grocery cart. I have many more memories to look back on and smile about. Lots from camp and the ones most special to me are when Nancy, Cindy and I did a science class together. The kids spent lots of good times together. I remember hearing interesting stories from Kyle when he came home from spending the night at Carson's. :) I remember Carson leading the way to the river behind his house. I can imagine the many times he had walked that path. I also remember that old mail truck. I never got to see him drive it but I can imagine the fun he had in that car. Carson had a wonderful love for life and all the things you can do in it. I am heart broken that he is no longer with us. I will miss him a lot. My prayers are with Oliver, Nancy and Riley at this time.

i had the honor and the privaledge to call carson a brother and a friend for 3 years i loved him like my own brother my best memory was when brittney and kalina arranged a surprise birthday party for me at dairy queen and i was so excited ben ruined the surprise though all the people i loved came to it i loved that olivier took the time and effort to make an amazing pottery coffee cup for me and i used it for a year until i had to move and the best part and most embarrasing part was when every single person sang at the top of their lungs happy birthday to me i was so embarrassed and i was so red in the face i loved every single moment of that birthday party i miss carson so much i love u nancy and ollie and riley im here always if you need me love u guys so much.

I'm very glad Carson was a good friend to my now 11 year old son MJ.  For several years Carson always acknowledged him and made him feel like one of the cool kids on campus.  
A few years ago Carson visited my A&P class and it was fun to look at his handsome face and remind him that I remember him as a little man in the school spelling bee's standing next to my son Mitchell.  
Play on Carson you have touched our hearts in such a sweet way.

Carson had a way to make you feel happy. I will always think of him and smile. He was a true artist. I am so thankful he was brought up in a home that fostered and loved his artistic and creative spirit. He will always be loved by all who knew him. We will remember him as kind and good natured. Having precious, wonderful Carson in mind:  1Thess. 4:13f - "But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep[Carson]so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus [Carson]....Therefore comfort one another with these words."    How sorely Carson will be missed, but what a grand reunion to come.  Loving you with all my heart,

Carson, you had the innate ability to make people smile, bring people out of their shell, and brighten anyone's day. I treasure the times that you and Luke and I spent hanging out over the years, as we grew from kids into adults.  You felt a lot like family. You had boundless energy and spark for life - and at the same time, a gentle, compassionate, and non-judgmental heart. You really enriched the lives you touched. I'm lucky to have had you as a friend.

I did not know Carson well but enjoyed my interactions with him at SVEC. What a sweet and polite young man. He was always so patient with the younger kids and had an amazing smile! He will be missed. I am so sorry for your loss.

Carson was a friend to my 10 year old daughter Cheyenne during her first year of camp last year. I arrived at camp on Thursday night,  hoping and praying that Cheyenne had a good week. I found Cheyenne happy as a clam, hanging out with her friend Carson. Carson immediately introduced himself to me and told me, in front of my grinning daughter,  that he was her buddy Carson. It made this mothers heart so happy to see my daughter being blessed by her new friend, and I remember being impressed at the time at Carson ' maturity and confidence in introducing himself to adult that he didn't know. I'm grateful to Oliver and Nancy for the young man they raised; what a blessing he was. Cheyenne will be looking forward to seeing her buddy Carson again in heaven someday.

Carson was blessed with a truly unique and energetic spirit.  I know the Lord is putting his creativity to good use, and someday we will get to see what he is enjoying in the presence of the Lord.

My heart is so heavy for our wonderful P.C. family. My family has known you guys for so long, I am lost in all the memories. You have been true servants of God. Producing all the Fruits of the Spirit and in doing so you have also raised wonderful soldiers of Christ. Your dear little Carson with his wonderful expressions of his passion for life will be greatly missed, but he will not be separated from us, for he is in our hearts always with the Love of God. And the Love of God is Amazing "For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord." We love you P.C's!

Lifting all three of you up in constant prayer, Carson will truly be missed.

Carson was such an amazing person!  Although I didn't know him extremely well he always made my family feel so welcome at Monroe.  He never failed to say hi to my kids when he would pass them which for a teenage guy always impressed me.  Every time I talked with him he would give you his undivided attention and really listen.  His smile was infectious and always made you want to grin right back!  Carson you will be so deeply missed by so many more people that you probably ever realized to which you made a difference and touched their lives.  Our hearts go out to all your family and friends.  Heaven has gained a really amazing guy and we all can't wait to see you again there!

It's incredible how somebody as young at Carson could encourage such a variety of people. He will be missed enormously along with his smile and inviting personality. I'll always remember Carson as a reminder to not be afraid think outside the box and to put others first. All my love and prayers go out to Nancy, Oliver, and Riley.

Carson was such a special person. His thoughtfulness, bright smile, and infectious laugh will always be a light in our lives. We are so thankful we knew such an amazing person. We will always cherish the memories we have of him. We look forward to seeing him again one day.

Carson lit up the room when he walked in. At family gatherings, he was always the wild card - what would Carson be wearing this time, what new injuries would he be sporting, what events would he have recently completed, what was he excited about? He moved easily between the group and the individual; if he was engaged in a conversation with you, you never felt as if he were going through the motions to be polite - he focused on you, remembered details and was genuinely interested in your life. It is hard to believe his body held that much positive energy and we are so blessed to have been able to bask in its glow (for way too short a time).  God, I miss him.

Not very long ago we were over visiting at a friend's cabin. Carson and some other friends were camping near by. There were no congregations close by so when Sunday arrived we decided to have a service at the cabin. Carson came all blinged out in true Carson style. I was curious how it would go. When it was mentioned that we needed men to say prayers, pass the Lord's supper, and share scriptures, Carson volunteered easily. He had very thoughtful comments and specific scriptures to share. That's what I always saw from Carson, he was always willing to step up and serve when there was a need. I like to think maybe God had another job for Carson and, in true Carson style, he stepped up. He will be greatly missed.

I went to school with Carson for many years I graduated two years before him, although we didn't hangout outside of school I had a chance too see him grow into a wonderful young man. Carson always lit up the room with his big smile, somehow he had a sence about him that he knew when someone was having  a bad day or hurting in some way and would always make an effort to lift them up. Thank you for that Carson :) he always had some of the funnest clothing and accessorie choices, his pink outfits were quit interesting ;) one of my favorite memories was Carson's senior year he and Luke Holister put together a school dance, they Dj'ed for it. If you know Sky Valley you know our dances are quit,  well... not this one Carson wouldn't allow it! Luke and Carson asked if my husband and I could be chaperones because they didn't have enough so I kindly excepted, I was wondering what I was getting my self into but by the end of the night Carson had got everyone on the dance floor even  all the shy wall flowers, he even made us chaporones dance. Thank you for the wonderful dance and all your enthusiasm and break dancing it was a lot of fun! Carson will be missed by everyone he knew, his  light for Jesus shined everywhere he went. Miss you Carson we'll see you in heaven :)

It takes a little darkness for us to see the stars, and a whole lifetime to reach them. May happy memories of an amazing son carry you through this sorrowful time. You are in our thoughts and prayers every step of the way.

The time had with Carson is a priceless gift. He had and will always have a very special place in my heart. I am holding you close in my thoughts and prayers. I love your family dearly.

Olivier, Nancy and Riley:
I am so sorry for your enormous loss in Carson leaving this world so suddenly.  He was your son and brother and he was so young.
Carson had a lovely heart didicated to God in Heaven, and to the people whose lives he touched here on earth.  He touched our hearts.  Carson was a born leader, and when others looked to him then he influenced them towards fun and living, but his lovely heart also caused him to influence them toward God.  He was a beautiful young man, and I am so sorry.

One of the privileges of our community at SVEC is watching small people grow into young adults. It was my pleasure to watch Carson do just that since the day he walked in the doors. He was in snowboarding class with my son Nate, he came to our house for a friend's air soft birthday party.
Last year, he worked in the Cafe with my daughter Pearl. On the first day of class, I came as a PTA representative to explain how students are required to be PTA members to handle funds, which of course Cafe students do on a regular basis. I had membership forms with me. I told Carson that I had given his membership form to his dad, who would take care of it for him. I will never forget the look on his face or what he said, because it so summed up how unaware he was of how people just knew who he was. 
"Wait.....you KNOW me? How do you know me?" I still get the biggest smile when I think of that day. He was all about being in the moment, wasn't he? Pearl leaned over and told him that I was her mom and that Nate was her brother. "Ohhhhh! That guy! Yeah, I got it now!"
Later in the year, he was told he needed to come talk to me about the ticket sales for his senior project, the dance that he and Luke DJ'ed, because I was the treasurer for PTA and of course there's always paperwork and such when it comes to money. "I want to give our ticket money to people in the Philippines who need help. We have so much already, I just want to help people who need stuff get what they need." 
Thank you, Carson, for being in the moment and for showing us how to focus on others, caring for them in practical ways. I am a better person for getting to be around you. God bless your family.

Carson was the only person that could make me smile when all was chaos. He was a joy to be around and made sure that everyone who was near him was happy. Even his outfits made people smile! No matter what, he was always putting other people and their problems before his own. He showed interest in other peoples lives; he wanted to be there for everyone and was. Along with all of this, he has been my best friend for 18 years, and I love him more than I can put into words. Miss you, Pinky.

Carson was such a light and encouragement, and he continues to inspire all those whose lives he touched while on this earth. I pray that you will take comfort in God's promises to draw near during difficult times, and that you would constantly feel the love and support of the brethren.

"The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves such as have a contrite spirit." -Psalm 34:17-18.

So sorry for your loss. Carson was a sweet young man and he will be missed by all. I know God will get you thru this tragedy, you are all in my prayers.

Carson was always that spark of life we were all missing, he knew just the right thing to say to make you laugh, to comfort you, to give you courage. Every year at camp I looked forward to hearing his devos, hearing him lead songs, seeing him all decked out in his camouflage for Capture the Flag. I'll miss our long conversations and endless laughing. I love you Carson, I take comfort knowing God is holding your beautiful soul now.

Carson filled the room wherever he went with light and laughter. He was a young man of many talents and was destined to do great things. Filed with the energy needed to accomplish whatever was in his mind, he now can put those talents to work doing what so ever our Father has for us to do, Oliver and Nancy can be proud of his short life and what he became to all who knew him. We've known Carson for a long time. I called him car boo boo every time I saw him knowing him for so long. I did love that boy and am broke hearted that he is gone. Praying for all the PC's for peace because I know it's painful, love all you guys!
