

David Joseph Deck of Monroe, WA was born on December 5, 1986 to John and Helen Deck in Everett, WA. He was the baby of the family as the youngest of six children. He passed away in the ICU at Evergreen Hospital in Kirkland, WA on January 11, 2023 from complications of a traumatic brain injury he suffered as the result of a fall at home on December 23rd. His family was by his side holding his hands. He was 36. Despite being born with congenital myotonic muscular dystrophy David was always on the go. He lived his entire life on the family dairy farm in the Tualco Valley growing up feeding calves, mowing the lawn with the riding mower, and hauling people around the farm with his John Deere Gator. He loved driving his Gator around the farm checking on things. As a youth he showed dahlia flowers and Holstein dairy cows in 4-H at the fair and even won Grand Champion with his cow in 2004. David graduated from Monroe High School in 2006. He was a loving son, brother, and uncle and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. David is survived by his father, John Deck, siblings, Teresa Deck, John Deck Jr., Monica Barber (Mitch), and Paul Deck (Meagan), nieces and nephews, Nathan Barber, Audrey Barber, and Bennett Deck. He was preceded in death by his mother Helen Maria Deck in 2005 and his sister, Rita Louise Deck in 2018. A Funeral Mass celebrating David’s life will be held on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at 11AM at St. Mary of the Valley Catholic Church, 601 W. Columbia St., Monroe, WA.
