Douglas Andrew Sackman Sr. of Startup, WA passed peacefully in his sleep on Jan. 26th at 1:20 am. Our dad was a man of character and integrity. He owned and operated Doug’s RV for 35 years. He joined the Army and proudly served his country during the Korean War. He was born to Andrew and Regine Sackman on October 30th 1935. He moved to Startup, WA in 1941 where he lived for the duration of his life. Our dad was a pillar of his community and will be missed by many people including: family, friends, anyone whose life he touched. He is survived by sisters Verna Skorick and Vera Zabel, brother Donald Sackman, five sons: Ed (Elizabeth), Bub (Gretchen), Doug Jr (Lisa), Brian (Laura), and Chris. He also leaves 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie, his parents, and four brothers: Ralph, LaVerne, Myron, and Dallas. A memorial service will be held Feb. 25th at the Gold Bar Elementary School from 12:00-3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Doug’s name to Snohomish County Search and Rescue. He was a longtime supporter and would certainly approve of this gesture.
