Elsie was born in North Dakota on March 22, 1922. She lived a vibrant and dynamic life, being raised on a family farm in the Monroe area alongside her 3 brothers and sister. In her early years, she showed her work ethic and personality to be strong, vivacious, and witty, working in a shipyard and as a bartender. Elsie was a woman of many talents and adventures; cooking, crocheting, gambling, boating, crabbing, and camping were some of her many favorite activities to partake in. She was a patriotic woman, coming from a family of veterans, and a long-time member of the American Legion, Club 170, and the Eagles.
Elsie loved her family. She was a fiercely loyal and loving mother and grandmother - even living to witness being a great grandmother. She was the cornerstone of the family, the glue that made gatherings for friends and family feel whole and complete. Elsie was a pillar of peace, love, strength, and laughter in everyone's story she met - a true anchor for anyone who ever needed her.
Elsie was preceded in death by her mother Pauline Higgins, father Carl Oster, sister Lillian "Dolly" Gravel, brothers Harold, Elroy, and Charles Oster, son Forest (Bunky) Sharyer, son Randle Sharyer. She will await the reunion in Heaven for her daughters Mary Miller and her husband Terry, Sandra Finley, her son Timothy Moore, and any grandchildren and great grandchildren; all of whom will carry a piece of her with them in their hearts.
The family would like to extend a warm and sincere gratitude to Elderberry Hill Care for their selfless love and kindness that supported Elsie in the last years of her life. We'd also like to extend a thank you to the high-classed, skilled, and knowledgeable Hospice staff provided to Elsie.
In honor of Elsie, the family will be holding a Celebration of Life on February 7, 2026, from 1-3pm at the home of Terry and Mary Miller. Please join us in celebrating her.
