It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kenneth Wayne Olson, who left us on November 29th 2024, at the age of 69. Ken was born in Spokane, Washington, on May 12 1955 to Jesse and Bonnie Olson. From an early age, Ken was known for his adventurous spirit and zest for life, earning him the nickname of “wild child.” He was a loving brother to his sisters Debbie and Kathleen.
Ken’s life was defined by hard work, and a deep love for his family. After proudly serving his country in the US Army, he became a logger, fisherman, carpenter and millwright. However, it was his family that remained at the core of his heart. In his 30’s he married Debby, and together they raised a close-knit family. Becoming a father and grandfather was one of the greatest joys of his life. Ken was never afraid of hard work and took great pride in providing for his family, he showed his love through action. Ken touched many lives and we are all better for having known and loved him. The world feels darker without him lighting the way.
“You can’t beat death but you can beat death in life, sometimes. And the more often you learn to do it, the more light there will be.”
-Charles Bukowski
Ken taught us to celebrate the victories along the way, enjoy the little moments and always look on the bright side. Ken is survived by his wife Debby, his children Jeffrey, Rachel, Ashley, Karl and Sarah. His grandchildren Van, Hadley, Penelope and Torrence. His mother Bonnie, stepfather Don and his sisters Debbie and Kathleen.
In honor of Ken’s life and the love he gave to so many, a celebration of life will be held on December 28, 2024, from 1pm to 4pm at Haywire Brewing in Snohomish, Washington. Ken, who was never one for ceremony, asked for no funeral, only a gathering of friends and family to share stories and celebrate the life he lived.
Ken will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his light, laughter, and lessons will continue to guide us.
