Marilyn was married to Sam Rupard Aug 26,1961. In her 85 years she had a loving family. Sam and Marilyn raised two children, Carole, and Ranie. Carole married (James) their children Kristal and Kyle Myers: Ranie married (Jackie) their children Justin Van Ess (Haley), RJ and Danica Rupard. Marilyn was a sister to June Wright (deceased) sister-in-law to Shirley (Bob) Wolken. Aunt to Sheree (Wayne) Elmendorf, Christina (Ron) Moser, Scott Wolkens, Sharlein (Clarence) Foster. She was a Great Aunt to Travis Gage, Curtis Moser, Jake, and Jordan Foster. Marilyn was preceded in death by her father John Mleziva, mother Lillian Mleziva, daughter Carole Rupard-Myers, son in law James Myers and grandson Tristan John Rupard.
Marilyn was born January 29,1938 and grew up a quiet country girl on the Mleziva homestead near Chain Lake. She could be found helping to gather eggs or milking the cow. She graduated from Snohomish High School in 1956. Marilyn worked at the Monroe Reformatory after high school graduation through March of 1965. On Aug 26,1961 Marilyn married Sam Rupard a dairyman from Duvall. Marilyn's daughter Carole was born February 1963 and Marilyn took a maternity leave but continued to work at the Reformatory until her second child a baby boy, Ranie was born March of 1965. Marilyn decided to stay at home, raise the kids, and help Sam on the growing dairy farm. Marilyn could be found feeding calves, chasing in the cows from the field or Milking, she became Sam's best Hired man. Marilyn was the lady’s generation of dresses, she could be found working in the barn, with her dress on and a cut off pair of boots. (Made it easier to put them on)
Marilyn had a loyal companion she inherited “Bubbles” the Black lab, He spent his time following Marilyn around as she did her daily chores, but if she were going to town he would want to follow. So, Marilyn would hang her purse out the window and yell at him to stay she would be back, and poor Bubbles would saunter off and wait for her return.
Being a dairyman’s wife was not always easy, Marilyn tried her best to make the most of things. In 1975 a major flood hit Duvall and Marilyn was found wading the flood water milking cows. In 1990 the valley was flooded again, and she and Carole took refuge in the Hay Mow to wait out the flood. Marilyn Loved to work in her yard, she could be seen driving off in the “Little Red Cattle Truck” to get a few things to plant in her yard and flower beds. Over the years her yard and back patio became a garden of Eden, and she could be found watching the hummingbirds enjoy the flowers. Marilyn enjoyed a few trips in her life, from Hawaii with her mother, and sister, and California with her kids, In 2005 Marilyn's son decided to buy the farm and move the operation to Ephrata, WA, Marilyn was a little sad and depressed. But depression was quickly erased from her mind. The burden of the farm was lifted, and she was able to make the biggest trip of her life with Sam on an Alaskan Cruise. Sam and Marilyn liked road trips to Eastern Washington and down to Crescent City to visit family.
After Sam passed and Marilyn required home care, she was blessed with two wonderful caregivers, Heidi, and Susan, they gave her amazing care and comfort. These ladies could take a bad day and make you laugh and forget your troubles. They enjoyed taking Marilyn to Eastern WA to visit her son and his dairy, The Casino for a bit of lunch and entertainment, Tulips in Skagit, or just a drive to see what’s new.
It can also be said that Marilyn loved meeting new people. Meeting and visiting with friends on the River Road was one of her favorite past times. This is where she met Heidi and many others that can be considered family.
Marilyn loved to sit and visit and ply you with coffee and a treat or even a meal. So that being said:
