Reading Diane's entry reminded me of another thing Bobby taught me--reptiles of all kinds (snakes, snapping turtles, lizards, and salamanders) are cool and to be prized and that rodents of all kinds are similarly cool and to be prized.  I not only remember the snapping turtle pond outside our house in Alexandria, Virginia, but also the garter snake pen we had outside our home in Tokyo, Japan.  Both of us would terrorize our number one maid (Sachko-san) by occasionally sitting down to dinner with garter snakes wrapped around our necks ( I think this happened only when our parents were out to a party).  He was a lot of fun and he taught me many things that I think made me a more confident female.  So did my mother for that matter.

Bobby, you left us much too soon. I'm missing your cheery phone calls already. They were such an important part of my days. I'm so glad my mother was waiting to take you crabbing once more. I'll cherish that memory. You will be in our hearts always, Mom

There was never a dull moment in our house with Bobby as my big brother. Among my fond memories, is Bobby building a turtle pond in our front yard in Virginia, complete with wire and cement and lots of Snapping Turtles. I think he was all of 11, and he was always exploring in the woods across from our house, and bringing home all these crazy reptiles and amphibians. Bobby was NEVER bored.

And when we moved from Hawaii to San Diego, in the smack dab MIDDLE of summer, with no way to make new friends, he actually let me hang out with him at the beach while he surfed.  What a nice big brother!

And, thank you, Bobby and Kathy, for having such a loving relationship and marriage. It was always very comforting knowing you were there for each other through everything.

He was my best friend when I was growing up and we moved almost every year of our lives. Bobby taught me how to defend myself, climb trees, and deliver newspapers in the morning when we were kids. Luckily, he found another best friend, his wonderful wife Kathy.  In that sense, he is blessed and our entire family is grateful to Kathy for that.

Bob was always ready with a laugh and a story. I'll miss him!

Maybe, just maybe, Bob has bumped in to my father Mitch ~ my dad was always looking for as many fishing buddies as he could get, and now he has other.  I know that Jesus has them both in his safe keeping.  I am here for you Kathy, whatever you need, you can call on me..

Kathy, our thoughts and prayers will be with you during this time of grief.

Thanks Bob for being my sister's best friend for all these years. Thank you for your easy way with life. We all tend to take ourselves too seriously. You were always there with that million dollar smile and a quick laugh to put it in perspective. When your out there fishing with my dad, cast one to the stars for us.

Kathy, sending you love from Kansas. Bob is watching over you now. Wishing you peace.

I'm sure that Jesus has already thanked Bob for taking Lucas out fishing soo many times on the San Diego Bay. God bless him!
