He was very proud to serve for his country as a member of the United State Marine Corp.
He worked hard so all his kids could go to parochial school. Working weekends became a standard in supporting their education. He also helped to support his Grandmother. He would stop and bring her goodies. He truly loved his mother.
Then there was the main love of his life, Anna. Anna made Augie complete. She always made him smile. His smile was that of happiness and love. The love he had for her was still glowing until his last breath.
In the late 1950’s he fell in love with a school. The UCLA Bruins became part of his sporting relationship. This became a life long tradition.
As a father, he took great care of Anna so she could take care of the kids. The kids looked foreword to payday Fridays. They would go out to eat or Augie would bring treats home for them to eat. Each Friday would be a surprise. He often said that the family needs to take care of each other; otherwise, without family, we have nothing.
When Augie was younger, he would take the family every year to Yosemite National Park. They would spend a full two weeks and have a great time in the beautiful park. He would pack up their car and away we went. Cousin Georgie would come with the family every year. The family loved it when their Cousin Georgie would come with them. This was a tradition that the family looked forward to every year.
After Augie’s retirement, Sunday breakfasts became very important to him. He always wanted everyone at the kitchen table together. If the house was filled with his kids and his grandkids, that’s when he was the most happiest. The noise of laugher made him happy.
So we know that his final days were that of happiness for his family and friends that were there by his side.
