

Harry Heidsman passed away in his sleep on Wednesday, May 25, 2016. Harry was born in Brooklyn, New York on April 30, 1929 to Andrew Heidsman (pka Andre Heidsma) and Anna Heidsman (Bader). His father had emigrated from Friesland, The Netherlands in 1923 and his mother had emigrated from Germany that same year when they met in New York City. Harry grew up in New York, both in Manhattan and Brooklyn.
He earned his degree from Brooklyn Polytechnic in Chemical Engineering in the early 1950s. He then spent two years as an Army Specialist Third Class from 1954-1956. He went on to receive his Master’s in Economics from Claremont Graduate School in 1965. He started his career working for Pfizer and then transferred to California to work with Aerojet General in Azusa. Most of his career was spent at CF Braun in Alhambra. Not one to sit at home, he loved to travel and go out to restaurants, movies, shows and Costco.
He met his wife on a blind date for New Year’s Eve in 1957 and they were married the following year. First settling in West Covina in a new development and then moving to Arcadia in 1974.
Harry is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sharon, and two daughters, Mary Ann Heidsman and Melissa Wellman (Fred). He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Andy, who died in infancy.
