

Dr. James Franklin Forbes II of Glendora, Ca passed on the evening of September 22, 2021 at Pomona Valley Hospital after suffering a stroke the day before. He was born in Berwyn, Illinois to Dr Harold F. and Katherine Henson Forbes on February 9, 1941.
James grew up in Cicero, Illinois and graduated from Morton High School in 1958, received his associates degree from Morton Jr College in 1960, a Bachelors of Science from Wheaton College in 1962, and finally a Phd in chemistry from Southern Illinois University in 1966.
He married Carol Elaine Loomer in 1967, their union brought the birth of two daughters but ended in divorce in 1977. During that time they also relocated to California due to a job opportunity for James.
He met his second wife, Peggy Corwin in 1978 and they wed later that same year. During their union they gave birth to one daughter and adopted their son.
James is survived by his former spouse; three daughters Tanya of Huntington Beach, Ca; Sonia of Temple City, Ca; Annisa Boehm of Glendora, Ca; one son William “Billy” of Glendora, Ca; two granddaughters Marissa and Heather of Temple City, Ca; one grandson Andrew Brown of Temple City, Ca; one brother David of Carmel, In; and one sister Bonnie Davies of Savannah, Ill. He was proceeded in death by his parents and wife.
James was a dental materials research chemist and worked for many companies during his career but worked for 3M Unitek in Monrovia, Ca for over 20 years and retired from there in the early 2000’s. He was very active in church groups through his entire life and was attending Fellowship Monrovia at the time of his passing.
He was a avid sports fan and raised his children to love the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears and to root for them regardless of records. He traveled to MLB spring training in Arizona annually with his brother to watch the Cubs and made sure all his children had visited Wrigley field at least once. James and his late wife Peggy also had a love for children that extended past their immediate family with dozens of other people who referred to him as “Uncle Jim” or “Papa Jim”.
A memorial service to honor his life will be hosted at Live Oak Mortuary 200 East Duarte Road in Monrovia on Saturday November 13, 2021 at 10:30 am
