Jimmie Ferguson was born on January 24, 1941 in Sanford, Florida. He graduated from Crooms High School Academy and as a young man he worked at Fleming’s grocery market as a meat butcher. He moved to Los Angeles following his brother Clyde Ferguson in 1959 where he met his wife Ramona and where they made their home for over 60 years. His life was full of amazing experiences and he never missed an opportunity to share with others stories about his work, his faith, and his family. Jimmie passed away with his family by his side during the early morning of June 28, 2022.
Jimmie was always fascinated by aerospace and electronic technology. When he moved to Los Angeles he attended Compton College and obtained his associates degree in Electronics. This would prove to be the start of an amazing career in aerospace where he alongside a team of astronauts, engineers, and technicians, worked to launch several Apollo and Space Shuttle missions. He would continue his career working for NASA, McDonnell Douglas, and Boeing where he was always considered the expert in his field.
In 1965 Jimmie became a baptized member of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He spent his entire adult life learning about Jehovah God’s purpose for mankind and the hope of everlasting life through Jesus Christ. Jimmie spent countless hours sharing his faith and helping many friends and loved ones learn this hope and to live peacefully among all men regardless of nationality, race, or creed. His ministry and faith was his greatest love. When he wasn’t busy sharing his faith he enjoyed spending time building computers and fixing televisions, radios, and a host of other devices. He considered electronics similar to living life, “there’s always a logical approach and blueprint”.
Jimmie is survived by his wife Ramona, and from this union, he had two children, Mario Ferguson and Lisa Hayes; a daughter Ann Marie Ferguson of Sanford, FL; his siblings, Helen Blackshear, Shirley Douglas, and John Ferguson, a host of grand and great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, and cousins. His parents Lena and Frank Ferguson and his brother Clyde Ferguson preceded him in death. His legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of all those he met.
