

Lois grew up in Southern California, primarily in Monrovia. She attended community college briefly, then went to work as a secretary in the office where she would meet a young advertising executive, George Haladay, who became her future husband in 1956. In their dating life, Lois and George loved going to hear jazz in downtown Los Angeles during the late 1950s. After marrying, the couple lived in South Pasadena, California, until moving to San Gabriel in 1960 with their two children, Gregory and Jane. San Gabriel remained Lois’s home for the next 65 years.
Lois loved music had a beautiful singing voice. She enjoyed being a homemaker, especially sewing. Lois was involved in Greg and Jane’s education and social activities in their younger years, including scouting, and later she enjoyed traveling with George to visit her children where they lived and worked, including in New York, San Francisco, Arizona, and North Carolina. Lois also appreciated the many wonderful business trips she took with her husband to new places, including Hawaii, Italy, and Germany.
Lois was the youngest daughter of John and Gladys (Winegar) Simpson. She is preceded in death by her older sister, Marilyn Vitt and her older brother, John Simpson. Lois is survived by her son, Gregory; her daughter, Jane; her brother- and sister-in-law, Donald and Dolly Haladay; and many nieces and nephews. She loved her family deeply, and her kindness and generosity will be remembered by all who knew her.
