She is survived by her husband, James D. “Jim” Thorn; daughters, Teresa Griswold (Bill) of Millbrook, AL, and Cindy Rayburn of Vestavia Hills, AL; son, James D. “Jimmy” Thorn, Jr. of Bainbridge, GA; grandchildren, Whitney Griswold, Taylor Dempsey (Ted), Walker Rayburn(Brooklyn), Noah Thorn, Jack Rayburn and Jakob Thorn; sisters, Frances Lyle of Nashville, TN, Catherine Marler of Memphis, TN, Alice Gallagher of Germantown, TN and Ann Edmiston of Southaven, MS; and brother, David Cox of Memphis, TN.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 12, 2016 from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at Montevallo United Methodist Church. Her funeral service will begin at the church at 11:00 AM, and burial will follow at Alabama National Cemetery at 12:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be directed to Montevallo UMC or Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org.
