Billie Jean McGaughy Ruwe, age 84, of Calera, Alabama passed away on Wednesday, July 21, 2021. Billie was born March 11, 1937 to Marion McGaughy and Lula Mae Lawley McGaughy of Birmingham, Alabama. She was a graduate of Ensley High School. She was a supportive wife at home, in business and as a pioneering female pilot. She was dedicated to raising her young children to become independent and strong adults. She enjoyed volunteering at local schools, socializing with various community groups and reading in her free time.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Victor Ruwe. She is survived by her son, Joe Ruwe (Nydia); son, Edward Ruwe; and her sister, Shirley M. Jones (John). She adored her three grandchildren, Julian, Jeanette and Josselyn, and 2 great-grandchildren, Teagan and Finn.
A graveside service for Billie will be held Sunday, July 25, 2021 at 3:00 PM at Macedonia Cemetery, Highway 22, Pea Ridge, Alabama.
