Curtis Lee Dempsey Sr.

Curtis Lee Dempsey Sr, 79 of Montevallo Alabama, passed away after a brief illness on March 25th 2023. He was a member of Calera Church of Christ. He was born June 10th, 1943 in Madison, West Virginia. He is a retired coal miner of 32 years. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them, especially with his grandchildren. His favorite things were spending time on his tractor, watching his purple martins, gardening, and taking trips with senior citizen groups. He also loved spending time in his shop building things.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Judy Ferrell Dempsey, Daughter Cheryl Dempsey Snyder (Todd) of Montevallo AL, Son Curtis “Jay” Lee Dempsey JR of Montevallo AL, Grandchildren Christopher Barker (Jen) of Alabaster AL, Summer Dempsey Ward (Shaun) of Winfield WV, Jacob Lee Dempsey of Scott Depot WV, and William Snyder of Montevallo AL. Great-Grandchildren Silas White, Lucas Lee Barker, and Nellea Dempsey. Sisters Maragaret Gore of Quinland WV, and Lu Hall (Don) of Troy MO, Jennie Dempsey of McCalla AL. Brother Roger Dempsey of West Salem OH. He is also survived by several nieces & nephews.

The family will receive friends for visitation Friday March 31st, 2023 between the hours of 10-11am at Rockco’s Funeral Home in Montevallo. Services will begin at 11am, with burial to follow at Montevallo City Cemetery.
