

Floyd was a loving husband, father, granddad, “Pop” and great grandfather for 97 years. He grew up in Rockford, Alabama. He married the love of his life, Myrtice Varner Kelley, on July 26, 1947. They were married for 74 joyful years. Floyd was born on June 3,1926 to Charles Reuben and Nancy Culver Kelley. Floyd served proudly in WWII as a Signalman on the LST 857. Floyd and Myrtice raised their sons Phil, Travis, and Steve Kelley in Hueytown, Alabama. Floyd was always involved in his sons sports activities. Floyd worked for U. S. Steel and retired to live in Helena, Alabama. Floyd and Myrtice spent their retirement enjoying family and friends. They traveled around the country to LST Conventions, where he enjoyed catching up with his Navy Pal’s. Floyd and Myrtice loved spending time with their grandchildren and great grandchildren whether it was playing wiffle ball, picking blueberries and muscadines or feeding the catfish. Floyd’s hardworking, determination attitude and love for his family will be remembered.
Floyd is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Nancy Kelley; wife, Myrtice Kelley; son, Travis Kelley; brothers, Thurman Kelley, Ralph Kelley, and Earl Kelley; sisters, Lena Kelley Bice and Agnes Kelley Williams; and granddaughter, Lindsey Kelley.
He is survived by sons, Phil Kelley and Ronald Kelley; daughter-in-law, Sue Kelley; grandchildren, Genie Parks (Brian) and Robert Kelley (Alex); great-grandchildren, Andrew Parks and Kelley Parks.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 from 10 am - 11 am at Rockco Funeral Home in Montevallo, Al. A chapel service will be immediately at 11 with burial to follow at Alabama National Cemetery at 12:30 pm.
