

Hazel Merita Jackson Carlee, known to everyone as Rita, is survived by her husband, Chester Leroy Carlee “Shorty”, daughter, Amy Carlee Hall and husband Ray Hall, son Joseph Carlee, daughter Emily Carlee Wallace, granddaughter Dallis Vanderslice Jones and husband Christopher Jones, grandsons Braylon Carlee, Cooper Carlee, and their mother Jennifer Carlee and Reece Wallace and his father Gregory Wallace Jr., and a great-grandson Avery Jones, brothers Albert Buddy Jackson, Michael Chunky Jackson and wife Donna, sisters Kay Broadhead, and Delores Hobson, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, cousins, family, and a host of many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother Sara Pauline McMillan Caffee, father Albert Sonny Jackson, brother Larry Jackson, nephews Tommy Jackson, Jeff Carlee, Matt Carlee, and nieces Wendy Carlee, Rebecca Carlee, and Sandy Giles.
Rita was born in Houston, Texas and later became a resident of Bibb County, Alabama where she lived most of her life.
Rita was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, devoted wife, and friend to many. She was married to Chester “Shorty” Carlee for 52 years where they resided in Lawley, Alabama.
She was a seamstress-hemmer at Mapletree, secretary for family businesses including Carlee Bro.s logging, Carlee Timber Co. Inc, and two service stations, and her best job of all, a stay at home mother and wife, where she excelled. She enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, and bringing laughter to wherever she was. Of her many titles, Maw Maw was her favorite. She loved and was very loved by her grandchildren Dallis, Braylon, Cooper, Reece, and great-grandson, Avery.
Rita went to be with our Lord, Tuesday, February 21st, 2023 at the Bibb County Medical Center Rehabilitation Center.
Her services will be at Shady Grove Baptist Church, February 25th at 1 p.m. Visitation will begin at 12 p.m. Fellowship will follow the services at the church and will be provided by Shady Grove Baptist Church.
Rita will be laid to rest in Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Randolph, Alabama.
