
sleep at his Branson, MO, home on August 29, following an extended
illness. He is now with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Branson.
Lancaster was the long-time entertainment editor of the Branson
Daily News, now known as the Tri-Lakes News. His columns on the
Branson entertainment scene were popular among tourists and
entertainers.
Jimmy and his wife, Amy, met at Samford University in Alabama,
where he earned undergraduate and master’s degrees in history. The
couple met their senior year in a Colonial History class.
In August 1981, the two moved to Branson, where he learned all
aspects of the newspaper business, including how to operate the offset
press, which he learned from Dwain Webb. Lancaster also worked in
the advertising department before being named entertainment editor.
Lancaster authored four books about the Branson music and
entertainment scene.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Aimee Blythe Lancaster of
Branson, MO; his parents, James D. Lancaster Sr. and Marian Lancaster
of Gadsden, AL; and his in-laws, Robert D. Crim Jr. and Bettye Crim of
Alabaster, AL, and Branson, MO.
Jimmy is survived by his wife of 46 years, Amy C. Lancaster of Branson;
brother Charles W. (Robbie) Lancaster of Gadsden, AL; nephews, John
(Margaret) Lancaster of Gadsden, AL, and Ben (Hayden) Lancaster of
Birmingham, AL; and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived
by Amy’s family the Joneses, Smiths and Pomeroys of Fairhope, AL.
The funeral was held September 5 at Rockco Funeral Home in
Montevallo, AL. He is buried beside his beloved daughter, Blythe, in
Harless Cemetery in Montevallo.
The family extends a special thank you to all the physicians and
support staff who worked with Jimmy throughout his illness.
