James Harold "Hal" Phillips, age 65, of Alabaster passed away on February 13, 2018, after an extended battle with Alzheimer’s disease. He and his brother Al were the longtime owners of Birmingham Parts and Metals.
Mr. Phillips was preceded in death by his father, James Harold Phillips, Sr. and his son, Brett Jacob Phillips.
Hal is survived by his mother, Darlene Phillips. He is also survived by his wife of 39 years, Susan Phillips; his children; daughters, Natalie (Mark) Betke and Olivia (Cameron) Horton and his son, Christian Phillips along with five grand-children, Jack Betke, Henry Betke, Ava Betke, Joanna Betke and Lily Phillips. He is also survived by his brothers, Al (Marion) Phillips, Hank Phillips, and Frank Phillips.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 17 from 10:00 – 11:00 am at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Montevallo. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am with burial to follow at Montevallo Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Southern Care Hospice and Comfort Care Hospice for their gracious care during his illness.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
