Johnny was the middle son of Cecil and Madge Bailey. His dad, mom, brother, Neal and sister-in-law, Shirley, have passed. We are comforted when we visualize them waiting to receive JB with open arms.
JB is survived by his brother, Thomas and his wife JoAnn; his nephew, Chris Horton, and his family: Victoria, Stella, Aria, Ronan; nephew, Nathan Bailey, wife Melissa and their son Benny; and a host of family and special friends.
JB occupied many positions within the Alabaster Police Department for 25 years. He loved his job but mostly he loved his co-workers. This wasn’t just a job to him but a profession that truly suited him. He loved helping and being around people. He had such a big heart, if you needed a shirt he would buy you the outfit, he went over and above any expectations.
JB loved to have family and friends over during the Alabama games and often shared a BIG pot of homemade chili. He loved to cook, and he was good at it. He loved to sit on his front porch with his Lake Lane family and others that stopped by to chat. He loved to plan breakfast meetings at Cracker Barrel with the “The Royal Order of Good Ole Boys” to solve the world problems. If by chance they were in deep deliberations, they would reconvene in the front porch rockers.
JB loved Christmas as much as any kid. He kept you informed on the number of paydays until the big day, and yes, he would start in January. He would keep you informed on which stations were playing Christmas music and would start posting Christmas pictures on the first of November. He loved having his Christmas parties with family and friends.
JB loved to write poems and music. He sang and even taught himself basic keyboarding so he could compose songs. He has written a good number of them and was very proud of his accomplishments.
To honor this gentle soul, smile, laugh, enjoy life, hug your family, and tell them you love them, because you never know when they will take their last breath.
Ecclesiastes 3:1 For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die….
