

Lary Jackson Chandler, age 73, of Calera, Alabama passed away suddenly on Monday, February 20, 2023. He was doing what he loved, farm work. He was born and raised in Bessemer, Alabama, graduated from Bessemer High School and was a United States Army Veteran. Upon completing his service in the Army, he continued to serve his nation as a proud and longtime employee of the U.S. Postal Service. Lary was a long standing member of the Bessemer and Calera Elks Lodge that contributed to many charities. He was also a member of the Zamora Shriners which helped support Shriners Hospitals for Children.
Lary was a friend to all. After retiring from the Post Office, he spent his time raising cattle, playing golf, visiting Panama City Beach as often as humanly possible and spending time with his many friends.
He is survived by his loving wife Linda, his beloved stepdaughter Michelle Howze and her husband Kevin, and the apple of his eye, his granddaughter Faith Howze. He is also survived by his mother Irene Chandler, his brother Roger Chandler and his wife Cindy, and nephews Josh, Zachary and Wyatt Chandler, and niece Katelyn Chandler. He was preceded in death by his father Clyde J. Chandler.
Visitation is Thursday, February 23, 2023 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Rockco Funeral Home, 3715 Highway 25 in Montevallo, Alabama, 35115. A Military Funeral Honors Ceremony will take place at the graveside service on Friday, February 24, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Thorsby Memory Gardens, 22206 US-31 in Thorsby, Alabama, 35171.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like to direct contributions to the Calera Elks Lodge Veteran and Kid’s Christmas Charities at P.O Box 1098, Calera, AL 35040.
