

Mary Leota Redmon Hollingsworth, age 95, of Montevallo, Alabama, passed away on Sunday, August 27, 2017. She was born in Wartburg, Tennessee on March 7, 1922 to Martin Redmon and Dallie Arms Redmon, the middle of five children. She met the love of her life, Clyde Austin Hollingsworth, of Bessemer, and they were married on April 13, 1940. Their marriage was based on their faith in God and their two precious children. Leota was a talented seamstress and enjoyed creating gifts with her hands that she lovingly shared with others. She was an active church member and Sunday School teacher wherever she lived. Most recently, she was a member of Montevallo First Baptist Church. She was a loyal friend and neighbor; her sweet, generous spirit will be missed by all.
She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 63 years; son, Clyde Ernest “Ernie” Hollingsworth; great-grandson, Noah Austin Johnson; brothers, Boyd Redmon, L. E. Redmon and Bill Redmon. Left to treasure her memory are her daughter, Kathy Varnadore (Eddie) of Sylacauga; daughter-in-law, June Hollingsworth Hubbard of Northport; grandchildren, Shane Hollingsworth (Lisa) of Northport, Stacey Johnson (Lance) of Northport, Eric Varnadore (Amanda) of Fort Payne, and Holly Howell (Eric) of Sylacauga; 9 great-grandchildren, Maddalyn, Dax, Ayden, Collyn, Lydie, London & Judson, Ava Kate, and Lyla; and sister, Odessa Woolum of Oliver Springs, Tennessee.
A Celebration of Leota’s Life will be held on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Rockco Funeral Home (Montevallo), with visitation to begin at 1:00 PM. Burial will be at Montevallo City Cemetery, followed by a reception at Rockco Funeral Home (Montevallo). In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ava Kate Fund at Children’s of Alabama, 1600 7th Ave. S., Birmingham, AL 35233.
