Mike was born in Pontiac, Illinois, July 30, 1973 but moved to Alabama at the age of 16 where he has since resided. He began work at Ken’s Auto parts at the age of 17 and remained there his entire life. He was a hard worker, devoted to his career and supporting his family.
Mike who was nicknamed "Coon-dog" at a young age could always be found in overalls and a hat, with a tool case in one hand and a Bible in the other. He loved to fish, hunt, and garden, go to flea markets with his wife Amy, restoring old guns, and working with his hands; he was a self-taught mechanic and was restoring his 1875 civil-war era home at the time of his passing. Mike also had a degree in Taxidermy and was a proud member of the NRA. Most importantly Mike was a family man, the perfect husband and a wonderful “Paw – Paw” He spent much of his time with his grandson Reiden at Chuckee Cheese, in the garden, or just riding. Mike was a man of few words, but he was kind; and his family says he never made an enemy.
Mike will join in Heaven his grandparents, Lela and Paul Keller, Thelma Ruth and Clarence Brasher, and Ray Burkey.
Left behind to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Amy Brasher; Children, Nancy Smith (Jonathan), Shane Brasher (Michele), Daniel Scarpelli, Jimmy Brasher, and Christina Scarpelli (Scottie); Grandchildren, Reiden and Presley; Parents, James and Luann Brasher; siblings, Andrew Brasher (Darcy), Ruth Brasher Burr, and Rachael Silvers (Mark); and a plethora of nieces, nephews and friends who will all miss him greatly.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Rockco Funeral Home in Montevallo Alabama.
