A career military man he served in the United States Navy from May 1944 through May 1946. In April 1949 he joined the United States Army where he served until his retirement in September 1969. He served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He rose to the rank of CW2.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Margaret Harand Genry; parents, John Henry and Alice Annie Brantley Genry; sister, Vera Genry England (Rudolph) and three brothers, Heyward Genry (Frances), Perry Genry (Betty) and Travis Genry.
He is survived by his brother Don Genry (Shirley) and many nephews, nieces and extended family.
Interment will be at Alabama National Cemetery, 3133 Hwy 119 Montevallo, Alabama 35115, on Monday, March 4, 2024 at 11:00 AM.
