Roy Daniel Thornthwaite

Roy Daniel Thornthwaite, age 84, of Montevallo, Alabama passed away on Tuesday, October 19, 2021. Roy was born May 8, 1937 in Royal Oak, Michigan to Richard Jonathan Thornthwaite and Helen Elizabeth Lakemacher Thornthwaite. He was a veteran of the US Army and retired from the State of Michigan. Following retirement, he moved to Alabama to be closer to family and spent time in Moulton and Montevallo. He was a peaceful and kind family man. He will be terribly missed by the family he treasured so much.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Arthur "Art" Thornthwaite, Lucille M. Fields, June Irene Persinger, Harold Richard Thornthwaite, Margaret J. Weber, and Eva Mae Weber. Left to treasure his memory are his children, Dawn Polishuk (Perry), Danny Thornthwaite (Cindy), and Kevin Thornthwaite; grandchildren, Jessica Polishuk, Marissa Watkins (Justin), David Thornthwaite, Greg Thornthwaite (Nicole), Ella Thornthwaite, Lexie Thornthwaite and Lily Thornthwaite; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Oliver and Mason Thornthwaite, and Eva Lynn Watkins; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A committal service with military honors will be held at Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, Alabama on Monday, November 15, 2021 at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Dr. Steve DeGweck will serve as officiant. A reception will follow at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church Parish Hall.
