Ruby "Marie" Marchman

Ruby "Marie" Marchman, age 95, of Helena, Alabama passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2023. Marie was raised in Cherokee County, Oklahoma by her parents, Alma and James Irvin. She met her lifelong partner, Bill, in Roswell, New Mexico. After a whirlwind romance, they were married on October 17, 1947. The enjoyed 73 years of marriage. Both were dedicated to family. They enjoyed three trips to Alaska camping and fishing.

She was the most caring, thoughtful and strong woman. She led with so much kindness and constant grace. She had a fierce love for the Lord and her family. She was selfless and would drop everything to help any one of her children. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; her parents; sisters, Retha and Rita Faye; brothers, Harold, Sonny and Dan; and her grandchildren, Dylan and BB.

She is survived by her children, Donna Bolton (Ed), Benita Diamond (Richard), Ron Marchman (Mari) and Barbara Higginbotham (Len); grandchildren, Deanna Benefield (Dennis), Don Binkley (Anastasia), Ron Diamond (Kathrine), Kim Carroll (Jason), Angel Marchman, Tanya Twete (Darin), Tatum Stevens (Nolan), Jack Higginbotham (Danielle), Sara Higginbotham, and Sam Higginbotham; fourteen great-grandchildren; her sister, Gaitha Herron; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life for Ruby will be held Sunday, April 30, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM at Rockco Funeral Home, 3715 Highway 25, Montevallo, Alabama 35115. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorial donations be directed to the Alzheimer's Association or St. Jude's Children's Hospital.

Ruby will be laid to rest privately in Alabama National Cemetery, 3133 Highway 119, Montevallo, Alabama 35115.
