

Walter will join in heaven his loving wife of 45 years Wilma Hester; parents, James Albert and Ruby Hester; mother, Rachel; brothers, J.D. Hester; sisters, Lois Scoggins, Emma Gene Lewis, Gladys Warren; daughter-in-law, Alice Hester; and great- granddaughter, Marissa Jewel Woods.
Left behind to cherish his memory, is wife of 27 years Myrtle Hester; daughter, Susie Spain (Jeff); brothers, Sam Hester, Terry Hester ( Melinda); stepdaughters, Carolyn Cupp, Bonnie Thomas (David); brother, Bill Ashworth (Faye); grandchildren, Brandon Calvin, Brad Woods, Magan Lutz (Bubba), Mary Spain, James Hester, Megan Lawley, and Marie Lawley; great-grandchildren, Macy, Ashton, Natalie, and Olivia; as well as a host of great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Walter was a deacon of Cross Roads Baptist Church in Montevallo, Alabama. He was an avid farmer. He retired from Taft co. after 25 years in the mining industry. He was a loving Father, Grandfather, and husband who will be dearly missed by all those who loved him.
A Visitation will be held Sunday August 16, 2020 at Rockco Funeral Home from 5 - 7pm. Funeral services will be held at Wilton Baptist Church on Monday August, 17, 2020 at 11:00 am, a lying in state will be held 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will occur at Shelby Memory Gardens promptly following the funeral.
