Wayne Edward Watts Sr.

Wayne Edward Watts, Sr. age 80, of Harvest, Alabama passed away on Friday, April 28, 2023. He was born to Edgar Earl and Frances Watts of Alabaster. He served in the United States Army before entering law enforcement. He served 33 yrs at the Shelby County Sheriff's Department, where he retired as Captain. He taught high speed pursuit, defensive driving and motorcycle safety at the University of Montevallo Traffic Safety Center. Wayne was a member of Shelby County FOP Lodge #41, lifetime member of 11th Armored Calvary’s Combat Infantry Association, and was a member of the Helion Masonic Lodge #1 in Huntsville.

Wayne's hobbies included drag racing, collecting guns, being an extreme car buff including serving as president of the Mid-Alabama Corvette Club in the 1980s, and watching football. Most of all, he loved his grandchildren, and supported their efforts and interests.

Wayne was preceded in death by his son, Wayne Watts, Jr; and brother, Larry Watts. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Alice "Kay" Watts; son, Eddy Watts (Terrie); daughters, Sandy Ceravolo (Joey) and Stacy Ward (John); daughter-in-law, Tracy Watts; brother, Carl Watts (Kelly); sister-in-law, Debbie Watts; eleven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A visitation for Wayne will be held Tuesday, May 9, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Rockco Funeral Home, 3715 Highway 25, Montevallo, Alabama 35115. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at 11:00 AM, 3715 Highway 25, Montevallo, Alabama 35115. A committal service will occur Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at 12:30 PM at Alabama National Cemetery, 3133 Highway 119, Montevallo, Alabama 35115.
