BOYD, Amy Moody 85, a longtime resident of Montgomery, died peacefully at home on December 31, 2022 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. She is preceded in death by her parents, William Augustus and Jewell Electra Moody and her brother at childbirth. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Joe Boyd; her son Ashley Boyd (Susanne), her daughter Scarlett Box (Erik). Known as “MawMaw” by her granddaughter Abigail Percival (Geoffrey), grandson Thomas Boyd (Sarah), granddaughter Ashton Box and grandson Watters Box. Amy was born in Rutledge, AL, in Crenshaw County, on December 29, 1937. She graduated from Luverne High School and went on to work for the Winn Dixie regional office in Montgomery for over 15 years, after which she remained home and raised her children and cared for her home. Amy and her husband Joe were long time members of Normandale Baptist Church (later Lakeview Baptist) in Montgomery, where she served many years in the childcare area, teaching Sunday School and working in the nursery. She loved caring for the children. She was a loving mother and grandmother, and a devoted wife. Her smile would brighten up any room and will be greatly missed.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Leak Memory Chapel on Monday, January 9th at 2 pm (visitation at 1) with Gordon Ogle officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Leak Memory Chapel on Sunday, January 8th from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
