

Archie Terry “Ted” Bozeman, 83, died peacefully on December 26, 2020, at his home surrounded by family in Hayneville, Alabama. Ted was born in Montgomery, Alabama, on October 14, 1937 to John Cecil Bozeman and Fannie Mae Hawkins Bozeman. He graduated from Hayneville High School, Huntingdon College, and Jones School of Law. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was in private practice as a lawyer in Montgomery and in Hayneville before being elected the first District Judge of Lowndes County in 1975. He was re-elected to that office four times until his retirement in 1997. He returned to the private practice of law at Bozeman and Bozeman and later Bozeman and Blackwell. He was recognized in 2017 for his 50 years of service to the Alabama State Bar.
Ted was a faithful member and deacon of Hayneville Baptist Church, serving as a Sunday School teacher until his passing. He served on the Montgomery Baptist Association Executive Board for many years and had a heart for missions. Ted organized many mission trips locally, nationally, and abroad, serving alongside on many of the trips with his lifelong friends. Ted was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John Cecil Bozeman, Jr. and James E. Bozeman (Sara); a sister, Charlotte Bozeman, a grandson, William Russell Bozeman (Stephanie), and twin uncles who were more like brothers, Hugh Hawkins and Herb Hawkins (Jean). He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Millie Bozeman; his three children, Randall Keith Bozeman (LaChele), Russell Foster Bozeman (Andrea), and Terri Bozeman Lovell (Jeff); eight grandchildren, Drew Bozeman (Taylor), Malcolm Strickland (Sarah), Tyler Bozeman, Andrew Strickland, Anna Marie Bozeman, Hannah Grace Bozeman, Luke Lovell and Abby Lovell; 6 great grandchildren, Eli Bozeman, Madison Strickland, James Russell Bozeman, Elisabeth Ann Bozeman, Samuel Bozeman, and Harriet Sarah Bozeman; one sister, Ruth C. Wilson (Gene), longtime friends Billy Mancil and Walter Means, and many friends and extended family members.
There will be a private family graveside service at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo. A memorial in his honor will be held at a future date.
