

Born on Jan. 20, 1935, in Americus, Georgia, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Franklin Eugene “Gene” Jennings; father, John Tyler Stevenson, Sr.; mother, Mable Edwards Stevenson; and brothers, John T. Stevenson, Jr. and George Drew Stevenson.
She is survived by her daughter, Gena Phillips (Jimmy); sons, Mark Jennings (Debbie) and Chris Jennings (Shirley); brother, Wade E. “Peabody” Stevenson; sister-in-law, Betty Moses; eight grandchildren, Kylie McBrayer (Dee), Katie Hicks (Caleb), Jamie Leigh Ivey (Parker), Rachel Nichols (John), Preston Jennings (Stacey), Amanda Eiland, Justin Jennings and Natalie Jennings; fourteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister and friend, she will be greatly missed by all. She enjoyed time with her family and was adored by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who referred to her as “Grandmother.”
Her family brought her immense joy, and she treasured every moment with them. She loved attending their activities, celebrating their milestones and being their biggest supporter. Babs also enjoyed spending time with her family, often entertaining grandchildren by her pool and hosting family meals and cookouts at her home. She also loved sweets, especially a Hershey’s Kiss and a piece of her chocolate pie. She was a devout Christian, strong in her faith and read her Bible every day. She loved her church family and being a part of her Sunday school class at Eastern Hills Baptist Church. She was loved, cherished and adored. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Babs will be honored with a visitation at Leak Memory Chapel, 945 Lincoln Road, Montgomery, Alabama, 36109, on March 29, 2026, from 1-2 p.m. A Celebration of Life will follow immediately after. A burial will be at Mt. Hebron Church Cemetery in Smithville, Georgia, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Eastern Hills Baptist Church.
