SSGT (Ret) Bardin Brandenburg Whitehurst, 74, of Montgomery passed away peacefully at his home April 24, 2012. After his service in the military he spent 20 years with the ABC Board and enjoyed his family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Mae Whitehurst of Beaufort, NC. He is survived by his loving wife, Sue Whitehurst, and children, Billy Whitehurst, Vanessa Whitehurst, and Philip Whitehurst, all from Montgomery; two brothers, Gerald (Bea) Whitehurst and Roger (Iona) Whitehurst, one sister, Jeanette Covington, all from North Carolina; two brothers-in-law, Pete Wilson, Charles (June) Wilson, and sister-in-law, Janet (Joe) Brantley; and a host of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 11:00 am at Leak Memory Chapel with Rev. Steve Sander officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday evening from 5:00 – 7:00 pm.
