Visitation will be at White Chapel-Greenwood Funeral Home from 12:00 noon to 1:45 pm Central time (1:00 pm to 2:45 Eastern time) on Friday, January 29, 2021. Following visitation, a funeral service in White Chapel-Greenwood Funeral Home will begin at 2:00 pm Central time (3:00 pm Eastern time) followed by a graveside service. The graveside service will be at Greenwood Serenity Memorial Gardens, where she will be laid to rest with her love, Roy L. Brown.
Mrs. Brown was born January 31, 1936 in Dothan, AL, daughter of the late Young Jasper Harrington and Nettie Louverne Benefield Harrington.
Mrs. Brown graduated 3rd in her class from Valley High School in May of 1954. She spent much of her life employed in Civil Service working at Maxwell Air Force Base, beginning as a secretary in Squadrons Officers School, secretary then Protocol Officer for the Air War College, Budget Analyst at Air University Headquarters, and then as Program Analyst for the Air Force Commissary Regional Office at Maxwell. After retiring from the Civil Service, she worked with Baptist Hospital until her retirement. She spent her remaining years enjoying life with family and friends. In her younger years, she enjoyed dancing and also boating and camping and traveling. She was an avid fan of older movies. She loved God her whole life and attended church at Eastmont Baptist Church until she left Montgomery. She spent her later years enjoying her son’s football games and watching her grandchildren and, later, her great grandchildren compete in sporting events or shopping for or with her granddaughters. She was always host of the family 4th of July celebration with her lime daquiris. She also enjoyed making many trips with her sisters and brother and playing the slot machines. In her late husband’s last years of life, she was a perfect wife, giving aid and comfort in his final years. Her sense of humor was ageless, and her 84 years were full, yet too short.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Lindy Brown. Also, preceding her in death was her sister Mary Harrington and many other extended family and dear friends.
Mrs. Brown is survived by her son, Roy Lindy Brown, Jr. of Phenix City, AL; granddaughter, Erica Eileen Burt (Little Man), grandson Tyler (Roy Lindy) Brown III and granddaughter Amy Elizabeth Warren (Michael) of Phenix City, AL; great-grandchildren, Kayli Burt, Logan Burt, Grayden Burt, Addilyn Burt and Averley Burt of Phenix City and one great grandchild which will be born to Amy and Michael Warren in August; a sister, Pat Folmar (Tom) and brother, Jack (Pete) Harrington (Jane) of Montgomery, AL; nephew, Robby Speight (Jennifer) of Pike Road, AL, nephew, Ronnie Penna of Douglasville, GA, niece, Sandy Shaw (Ronnie) of Montgomery, AL, nephew, Andy Penna (Ashlynn) of Gwinnett, GA and niece, Julie Harrington of Montgomery, AL; and special friend Ernie Enos of Tampa, FL.
