Leak Memory Chapel
BAKER, Bill A., a long-time resident of Montgomery, died peacefully at home on January 22, 2022. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Nell Baker; his wife, Nellie Perkins Baker; his son, Terry Baker and his sister Betty Ann Brooks. He is survived by his son Jeff Baker (Shannon); grandson Brandon Baker (Megan); his daughter Amy Baker Robinson (Mike); grandchildren Cody Robinson (Jessica) and Courtney Robinson (Jake), Nicole Baker and TJ Baker (Madison), as well as many great grandchildren. Brother Bill, as he was lovingly known by his vast church family, served the Lord as a Southern Baptist Preacher for over 60 years. A graduate of Howard College (Samford University), he received his ministry education at New Orleans Seminary. Bill also served as Chaplain of the Montgomery Sheriff's Department after retirement from full-time ministry. Loved by all and appreciated as a true "Pastor," he could be seen almost daily, in and out of hospital rooms, visiting the sick and sharing his infectious laugh and warm touch with everyone. Bill Baker never met a stranger. He will be missed; he will be remembered; and he will be celebrated this Friday, January 28th at Leak Memory Chapel. Visitation will be at 11 a.m. with a Celebration of Life Service at noon, with Reverend Doug McKinney officiating. A graveside service will be held afterward with Reverend Matt Hall presiding.
