

Carl Dudley Chandler, 83, died July 5, 2013 in Montgomery, Alabama. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the University Church of Christ where he was an active member for 26 years. His ashes will be interred beside his wife’s, Glenna Chandler (Grice), at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego, California at a later date.
Carl was born in Millport, Alabama on July 12, 1929. He graduated from the University of West Alabama in Livingston, AL in 1951 and earned his Master’s degree from Vanderbilt-Peabody in Nashville, TN in 1954 where he met his wife Glenna Grice. They were married on June 24, 1955 and both worked for the San Diego City School System. After retiring as a head counselor, they moved to Montgomery, Alabama where he worked full time as Director of counseling services at Faulkner University until 1994, then continued to work part time as Faulkner’s chapel coordinator until retiring completely in December 2012.
For many years Carl was a member of the Lion’s and Kiwanis Club of San Diego and Montgomery and currently was a member of the VFW post 96. Carl loved to swim and was an avid domino player.
Carl is survived by his two children, daughter Nancy Tue, her husband Wayne and their son Chandler; son Glenn Chandler and his wife Debbie; two sisters, Rose Weeks and Janet Blomeley.
Carl is preceded in death by his wife Glenna Chandler (Grice); parents, Carl and Pearl Chandler, as well as his brothers Don, Ray, Wayne, Dennis and sister, JoAnn Williams.
