
Claris Wallace “C. W.” Williams, 88, resident of Clinton, SC, passed away September 8th, 2010 at Presbyterian Communities of SC. After graduating from Auburn University, class of 1949, with a degree in Agricultural Engineering, he served in the U. S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He retired from the State of Alabama Highway Department, Bridge Bureau in 1984 after 32 years of service and from the Alabama National Guard in 1976. He was a volunteer at Baptist South Hospital for 24 years. He taught Sunday School and sang in the Ridgecrest Baptist Church Choir in Montgomery, AL for 40 years. He loved classical and gospel music and took much pride in listening to his five daughters sing and play string quartet music. Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Lois Jean Jones Williams; daughters, Jean Gonzalez, Ann Beck (E. A.), Nan Stricklen, Joan Wittmann (Van), Carol Roosevelt (Oliver); 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, September 12th at 3:00 at Leak Memory Chapel, Montgomery, AL with the Rev. Mike Cassity officiating followed by a graveside service at Serenity Gardens. The family will greet friends at the Leak Memory Chapel from 1:00 to 3:00 on Sunday, September 12th. Memorials may be given to Baptist South Volunteers-Nurses Scholarship Fund (Montgomery, AL) or Presbyterian Community of Clinton, SC Rehab Unit.
