

Darren Scott Reed, age 50, peacefully passed away on April 28, 2022, in Pike Road, Alabama. Darren lived a beautiful life with advanced colon cancer serving as a wonderful example of hope, faith, and courage to all that knew him. His life and legacy will be cherished by many.
A native of Montgomery, AL, Darren studied at The University of Alabama before pursuing his professional career in Information Technology with Baptist Health. One of Darren’s life passions was traveling around the world. Darren enjoyed planning trips, with his favorite destinations being New York, Hawaii, Paris, and Italy.
Always carrying a song in his heart and a new gadget to demonstrate, Darren loved animals, art, movies, music, and technology. Darren was kind, thoughtful, calm, funny, and witty. A member of Mensa, he also loved Legos, Star Wars, Disney and was a loyal fan of University of Alabama football.
Preceded in death by his mother Hazel Carole Estill Reed; his maternal grandparents, Hazel and Levi Estill, Sr.; his paternal grandparents Evan and Gertie Reed.
Darren is survived by his wife, Susan Thompson Reed and beloved greyhound Ruby Reed; his father Herbert Reed; brother, David Reed (Katherine) and sister Julie Garland (Tim); in-laws Wayne and Ann Thompson; sister-in-law Elizabeth Day (Colter); nephews and nieces, Michael Garland (Katie), Brian Garland (Betty), Laura Hudgins (Anthony), Garrett Reed, Cooper Reed, Sam Day and Max Day; great nephews and nieces, Brayden Garland, Syahni Garland, Nash Garland, Asher Hudgins, River Hudgins and James Michael Garland; and life-long best friend Brian Swanner.
A service celebrating Darren’s life will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2022, at 3:00 pm at First United Methodist Church, Montgomery, Alabama. Reception and visitation to follow service in the Fellowship Hall.
