 David took me to most all of my basketball practices and games while helping support the coaches/players activities. Always in a very supportive & encouraging role for me and made those years very special as a teenager.
I also picked up some great grilling skills from Uncle David along
the way. He had that special ability to blend all the right spices
and marinades to tickle the taste buds. Little did I know at the
time, outdoor grilling would one day be a major part of my
career.
David was a War Eagle and I enjoyed many fun days watching,
talking and socializing all things Auburn football. Many a
football thrown around the yards in my youth and always was
special when David joined us with the “Zebra Right on three”
call for the long pass.  Happy Days.

More Memories...
Our favorite lunch  at Stone Piano was grabbing some food at the Cloverdale IGA down from the shop and making a tuna on wheat sandwich with cheddar cheese, corn chips and a Tab drink. That’s
still on my lunch menu today minus the Tab…What were we thinking David?
David and I moved many restored Stone Piano Company master
pieces built by David & Dad with a little help from me back in
those days… and they were master pieces. If you were lucky
enough to get on the schedule for a restoration built by the
Stone family it was the highest quality …David made sure.

On those Piano move days, I think David appreciated my
younger back and I appreciated his strong forearms.
He had a beautiful GTO car back in those days and remember
cruising down the back roads of Montgomery on one of those
sticky & hot south Alabama summer afternoons. The windows
open…wind blowing and the thunderous noise of the engine
coming out from behind, I shouted “does the car have power
steering” as we made a sharp turn and he downshifted into 2 nd
gear. He shouted back “Yes it does “as he held up is two
powerful arms and pointed to his forearm. Those forearms
came in handy at the cookouts when grandmother made
homemade peach or chocolate ice cream. I can still see him
churning and pouring the extra salt on the ice as he cranked on
the handle. Fun days and times. Great Memories.

My dad’s (Joe Stone) youngest brother and my uncle, David Lee Stone was a very special man in my life.  
First, I only heard my grandmother (Elizabeth Stone) ever call David his middle name when she was less than pleased about something he was doing. “David Lee Stone” I can still hear her shouting towards his direction. He quickly stood to attention with a smile my way. 
David was a not just an uncle but like a big brother to me growing up in my young teenage years in Montgomery. He also was my boss, mentor, and friend as I worked at Stone Piano Company with my dad, David & Granddad in the afternoons after school. Those years at Stone Piano are still some of my favorite teenage memories… Thanks David, Dad & Granddad.
He was a gentle soul of a man and you were the one who was most influenced by meeting him, being with him. Caretaker at heart for sure and know that Patti and his sons, grandchildren, friends and family will forever cherish all the positive memories and times with David to bring us all peace and comfort.
He loved his family and his older brothers John and Joe. David and I had planned to take a trip to Houston to visit with John’s family but God had other plans. He decided to visit with his mom, dad,  John, Junera, family & friends in Heaven.  Big Hugs, I am Sure!

David was a wonderful piano tuner and lovely person. He frequently tuned the pianos at Huntingdon College and was always so thorough and kind. When I first met him, he gave me his number and offered to come anytime and teach me about the harpsichord he built that is on campus at Huntingdon. I wish I had taken him up on the opportunity, but I am honored to have a piano he rebuilt in my office and will remember him when I play it. The Huntingdon College music department thanks David for his hard work in caring for our pianos for so many years. We will miss seeing him on campus.
