She is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, USAF Lt Col (Ret) Gary Evans Little, of Franklin, Ky, her mother Cordia Mae Jacobs Moses, her father George Arthur Moses, Sr, her brother George Arthur Moses, Jr, and grand niece Jennifer Hood. She is survived by her daughters Kathy Little Henneberg, Atlanta, GA, Karen Little Collum, Montgomery, AL, and Sandra Little Loftis (Jon) Richmond, VA, grandchildren Lauren Henneberg, Jeff Henneberg, Derek Loftis (Rebekah), Amanda Loftis Rasberry (Clint), and Lindsey Collum. Along with her 5 great grandchildren Luke Collum, Aria, Eliam, Kaiyah, and Rayah Rasberry. She is also survived by her sister, Helen “Betty” Moses Dawkins (Dickie), brother-in-law and sister-in-law Joe and Millie Little, of Camden, AL & many other family members.
Della was born in Huntington, West Virginia but spent most of her childhood in KY. She and her siblings, Betty and George, grew up in Methodist Children’s Homes in Versailles and Franklin, Ky. She met and fell in love with Gary at Franklin-Simpson High School, and married a year after her graduation. Della’s close friend, Mildred Johnson, also from the Girl’s Home, married Gary’s brother, Joe Little.
They had three daughters and spent their next 57 married years in military family life at numerous bases including Stuttgart, Germany. They settled in Montgomery, AL after Gary’s final USAF assignment.
Della enjoyed the life of a military wife and was always involved in Wives Club, local activities and travel. She enjoyed painting, crafting, sewing, gardening, the girls’ activities & participating in church choirs in every move. Della welcomed and loved many stray pets in her lifetime. When the girls were grown, Della and Gary took up square dancing, and were avid deer hunters and fishermen.
They were members of Aldersgate United Methodist Church and the Pathfinder Sunday School class since 1976. Della was a member of the Chancel Choir, sang with the Senior Saints, and was in numerous Bible studies. She loved creating themed decorations for monthly Young at Heart luncheons. Always a well accessorized dresser, Della even wore makeup when deer hunting. Once she slowed down in life, Della embraced doing puzzles of all kinds.
We are proud that Della has left a legacy with her family and friends, of her faith in Jesus Christ as her savior, and that is what she’d want for you, as well.
We want to thank you for your kind words, notes and visits of encouragement, prayers and condolences.
